Born in Neuchâtel in 1975, Till Rabus is a Swiss painter trained in printmaking at the École d’Art Appliquée de La Chaux-de-Fonds. His oil paintings revisit the codes of still life and the nude with hyperreal virtuosity, shaped by a wry, second-degree gaze akin to Surrealism: plastics, toys, waste, fragments, and domestic objects become ambiguous “portraits,” both seductive and unsettling. He lives and works in Neuchâtel; a major retrospective was devoted to him in 2023 at the Musée des beaux-arts de La Chaux-de-Fonds.
