This piece was created during a time of hardship in the artist’s homeland, Iran. The contrast between the weight of the stories within the book and the softness of the hand-printed blanket reflects a central message, “even in the midst of hardship, there is gentleness and the possibility of peace.” The painting becomes a meditation on patience—a quiet belief that no matter how difficult life may be, light will return.

Each element carries symbolic meaning: the bird resting on the pillow suggests victory, while the leaves, bed, and softness evoke peace and rest. The book references Shahnameh by Ferdowsi, featuring selected verses in Farsi that speak of the triumph of light and goodness over cruelty. The miniature illustrations echo and reinforce this sense of hope.
