Biography
Pierrick Sorin is a French multimedia artist, video-maker, director and scenographer, born in 1960 in Nantes. Working from early self-filmed pieces to immersive installations, he explores the status of the image and the shifting boundary between reality and fiction, often through a burlesque, self-portrait-based approach. He is particularly known for his “optical theatres” and other staged devices that create hologram-like effects, placing moving figures within real sets and drawing the viewer into the work. Alongside his visual practice, he also develops scenography and stage projects, including for opera.
